SUMMARY:
+ The Senior Accounting Manager, General Accounting has the lead responsibility to maintain the general ledger for the business, is the business owner of the general ledger system and the monthly process to close the books, and meets the financial reporting requirements.
+ By leading the general accounting staff, this manager assures on-time delivery of accurate financial results in accordance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Maintains the Books for the business in accordance with AAR policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), ensuring the correct accounting classifications for transactions.
+ Ownership of monthly closing process.
+ Takes lead on accounting issues related to fixed assets, sales taxes, accrued liabilities, payroll, etc.
+ Meets reporting requirements for internal and external needs, including financial statements, forecasts, reconciliations, and analyses.
+ Presents information in a manner that emphasizes key metrics, explains the major drivers of results, and highlights areas requiring action.
+ Trains users on how to understand the reports.
+ Continuously improves the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations.
+ Accountable for internal controls over assets, liabilities, revenues, and disbursements.
+ Reviews control reports for assigned transaction processing systems and assures the timely completion of reconciliations of ledger balances to underlying transactions.
+ Supports the audits of the financial records and controls.
+ Develops employees to enable growth in their business judgment and provides training to increase their skills to support the business.
+ Analyzes operating results and trends to make recommendations to control costs, safeguard assets, and improve profits.
+ Takes initiative to get things done that add value to the business.
+ Provides leadership throughout the business.
+ Promotes the mission, vision, and values that AAR has developed in order to maintain a strong relationship with our employees, customers, and stockholders.
+ All other duties as assigned.

+ Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications:
+ To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
+ The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
+ Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Accounting degree, minimum of 7 years related experience and CPA preferred.
+ Desktop software skills, technical accounting skills and transaction processing system skills preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
