Job
Summary:
The intervention teacher is responsible for instructing elementary school students needing intervention in the areas of reading and/or math.
The position supports the school's regular education curriculum and works collaboratively with other personnel to expand student development of appropriate skills, knowledge, and interests.
PERFORMANCE
Responsibilities:
Adheres to the teacher's performance responsibilities.
Conducts assessments to identify target groups.
Conducts regular testing of target groups.
Works with the classroom teachers to create an instructional plan for targeted children.
Collaborates with classroom teachers to provide students and families with activities that support the district's literacy programs.
Implements literacy instructional plans in conjunction with the classroom teacher to the needs and abilities of assigned students.
Communicates with the classroom teacher, parents, and building administrator on the progress of targeted students.
Obtains parent consent for students entering and exiting the intervention program and maintains thorough records for assigned students.
Completes all necessary state and district reports.
Follows guidelines and policies of the intervention program and grant-related projects.
Completes progress reports.
Attends conferences, staff meetings and professional development as necessary.
Selects materials to meet the needs of the children.
Keeps communication open with parents and staff.
Well versed in the Illinois Learning Standards EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
As defined by the Negotiated Agreement.
LICENSURE:
Illinois Professional Educators License (valid for grade levels served) Reading and/or Math endorsement ESL endorsement or willingness to obtain Fluent in oral and written Spanish Preferred Job Type:
